Holistic Therapy Throughout California
It’s Time To Finally Invest In You.
Jen Viscidy, LMFT
Hi! I’m Jen and I have an inkling…
You’re done with “being done.” The constant cycle of burnout and letdown has worn you thin. Years of your nervous system being the pilot of your life has shaped how you move through the world, how you love, and how you show up for yourself. You know how to survive; you’ve been doing it forever. But thriving? Feeling safe enough in your own body to rest, to trust, to connect that’s a foreign concept.
I’ve been there.
We read all the books (or have at least collected them all!), listen to the podcasts, collect all the information. We know all the “right” things to do. Yet our nervous system still hijacks our best intentions, leaving us disappointed, unable to trust ourself, and questioning if real change is even possible. We find yourself chasing some invisible standard of “enough,” wondering whose benchmarks we’ve been trying to meet all along and whether they were ever ours to begin with.
I, get it!
No really, and not just from the therapist chair, but from lived experience. I don’t speak about nervous system overwhelm, burnout, or disconnection like they’re abstract ideas; I’ve been there myself. I know what it’s like to try every “right” thing and still feel like you’re missing something essential. My training gives me the tools to guide you, but my humanity keeps me grounded in the realness of what healing actually takes, patience, honesty, and a willingness to start again, even when it’s messy.
This is the moment you start reclaiming your own rhythm. The part of you that’s tired of white-knuckling through life is ready for something steadier, deeper, more alive.
You’re in the right spot.
You're here because you’re ready to live again.
How I work
At the core of my approach to therapy is a belief that the relationship we hold with ourselves is the greatest catalyst for change.
With a depth-oriented and neuroscience-informed approach, we’ll explore the parts of you that have been fiercely protecting you. You know, those sometimes pesky strategies and behaviors that once ensured safety but may now limit growth and connection. Together, we’ll study the intricate system of your mind and body, increasing awareness of how patterns rooted in survival can transform through compassion and integration. Grounded in research and an understanding of the nervous system, our work will focus on helping you align with your authentic way of being, creating a life that supports regulation, vitality, and sustainable change and not one dictated by external expectations.
HEre’s what I believe about therapy:
My role as your therapist is to help guide you organically to your inner knowing
Although these knowings can be painful and can sometimes elicit many emotions, I will challenge you to go through the pain and not around it. I believe the universe gives us these opportunities to uncover our truth and therefore our authentic selves. We cannot avoid pain in this life however that does not mean we are destined for suffering.
Emotions are not to be silenced by some “tool”
Somewhere along the way western psychotherapy began to pitch the idea that with the right “tool” suffering is eliminated. It’s a great way to sell therapy and a horrible way to feel when the “tool” doesn’t work. Together we will listen to these persistent emotions and uncover their purpose. Only then can we find what organically works for your nervous system.
You are going to have another human with you on your healing journey
I show up with my full humanity intact, with humor, honesty, and the kind of presence that doesn’t require you to perform or mask. Healing grows in the space between two real people, and in here you don’t have to hide the parts of you that feel tangled or unfinished. You get to arrive exactly as you are.
“Only when we are brave enough to explore the darkness will we discover the infinite power of our light”
When I’m not in the therapy room or with family, I’m usually at home curled up with my three dogs and cat, settled into a full cuddle puddle while I lose myself in documentaries or a good book. And when my nose isn’t in a book, I’m trying new recipes or new restaurants as well as exploring live performances around the Sacramento area. I also make plenty of space for my inner child’s adventurous heart; wandering through forests to forage seasonal native plants, spending long, restorative hours in the water, and exploring the hidden gems and wild beauty of Northern California.
Get the support that’s right for you.
